This project involved the transformation of a set of derelict 19th-century farm steadings into a luxury countryside wedding venue complete with high-quality residential accommodation. The client’s vision was to preserve the historic character of the original stone buildings while introducing modern functionality, comfort, and energy efficiency.
Working closely with the architect The Building Workshop & the structural engineer, our construction team stabilised and restored much of the existing structure using traditional materials and techniques, while seamlessly integrating new services, insulation, and discreet modern enhancements. Careful attention was given to maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the site, including re-slating roofs with reclaimed materials and repointing walls in lime mortar to ensure authenticity and longevity.
The completed development now features a beautifully restored events barn, luxury guest suites, landscaped courtyards, and modern catering facilities — all designed to create an elegant yet rustic atmosphere for weddings and celebrations. Despite challenging ground conditions and significant structural deterioration, the project was delivered on time and within budget, achieving a balance between heritage conservation and contemporary comfort. The result is a vibrant destination that celebrates local craftsmanship, contributes to the rural economy, and gives a new purpose to a once-abandoned agricultural site.
